High-Resolution CMYK Printing with Gloss, Matte.
Corrugated behaves differently from paper, and almost every print problem we see traces back to one of four things below.
Your dieline is not your artwork. A mailer box is cut, creased and folded from a single flat blank, and anything that crosses a score line will not register across it. Ask for the dieline first and place your design inside the panels. Design across a crease and the artwork visibly shifts when the box folds.
Corrugated has a grain, created when the flutes were formed in one direction. Design elements have an appearance that depends on which way they sit relative to that grain — lines running across the grain read differently from lines running with it.
The practical rule, and the reason this matters commercially: ink printed across the grain is more likely to crack, scuff and delaminate because the liner flexes perpendicular to the flutes. A large flood-printed area running the wrong way relative to the grain will show stress marks along the creases within weeks. Your dieline will show the grain — orient your type, your key graphics and any flood coverage with it.
Standard bleed is 3 mm on every edge, on top of the manufacturer's trim allowance. Ink coverage above roughly 30% of the surface moves the box into a different price tier and, more importantly, affects recyclability — heavily flooded board is harder to repulp. If you need a full-bleed dark panel, ask what it does to the recyclability before approving it.
AI, EPS or PDF with vector shapes. Corrugated flutes create a visible texture that softens fine detail, so minimum text size is larger than on flat paper. Below about 6 pt, the flute texture interferes and the text reads as a grey smudge. Convert text to outlines, embed or outline your fonts, and keep a live-text version of the file for revisions.
On a REFT mailer, the visible surfaces are the lid top, the front panel and the two side wings. The back panel is often covered by the shipping label. Put your strongest brand work where the label will not land, and leave a clear, low-contrast area for the carrier label — a dark printed panel underneath a white label looks like a printing error and some carriers reject or surcharge it.
Ordering custom mailer boxes is a specification conversation, not a checkout. Five steps, roughly two to three weeks from first message to flat cartons on your dock.
Give us interior dimensions — length, width and depth of the space the product actually occupies — plus the shipping weight including packaging. Interior is the word that matters most. Quoting external dimensions produces a box that is too small for the product and the fault is yours, not ours.
Two questions decide everything. How far does it travel, and what happens to it on the way? A parcel that travels 200 miles through one sorting hub and a parcel that crosses the country through four are not the same engineering problem. If your product is glass, ceramic or has any hard edge, stop here and specify an insert — the mailer versus shipping box section explains when that decision changes the box entirely.
Roll-end tuck front is the default for good reasons and covers most e-commerce applications. Tab lock adds tamper resistance for higher-value goods. E-flute is the right choice for lightweight product and holds a crease cleanly; move to B-flute when weight or stacking demands it. Our six styles and flute comparison sections cover the trade-offs.
We produce a CAD dieline built around your dimensions, with grain direction marked, and a digital 3D render. Artwork is preflighted for alignment, bleed and trapping at no charge. One revision round is included. This is where the risk gets caught, and it is deliberately front-loaded.
Production runs 15-18 business days after written proof approval. Approval in writing matters: an informal "looks good" is the most common cause of a dispute about a finished order. Rush timelines can be quoted but are never assumed.

| Production time | 15-18 business days after written proof approval. Rush available on request, quoted before you order. |
| Proofing | Digital 3D render and flat proof before production. One revision round included. Artwork preflighted by our design team at no charge. |
| Artwork requirements | Vector artwork strongly preferred — AI, EPS or PDF · CMYK colour mode · text converted to outlines · images 300 DPI minimum · 3 mm bleed · fonts embedded or outlined · grain direction noted on the dieline and artwork oriented to it |
| Cutting method | Zund cut-and-crease or Euclidean cut-and-crease. Zund is the default and gives cleaner detail on small cut-outs. |
| Quality control | Dimensional check against the approved dieline · colour proofing against the signed-off standard · registration and score-line inspection · flat-pack count verification |
| Delivery format | All boxes ship flat-packed. Bundle counts per carton are specified on the quote so you can plan warehouse intake. |
| Material certifications | Available on request. Ask for the certificate number and chain-of-custody code, not a general assurance. See Sustainability and verification below. |
